Oxidation on steel strings begins from the moment they are removed from their original packaging and installed on the instrument. This process is caused by exposure to humidity in the air and accelerated by contact with the acidity present in hand sweat. Oxidation affects the sound characteristics of the strings with a significant loss of quality and makes precise intonation (tuning) of the instrument difficult. Therefore, for optimal performance it is advisable to change them periodically or as soon as they show signs of oxidation (rust).
To extend the life cycle of the string, we recommend that you clean it with a dry cloth whenever you finish using the instrument, keeping it away from humid environments and preferably stored in an appropriate case.
